A Parks on the Air Event
Come join us on Saturday, February 18th at Cecil Webb wildlife management area as we activate a park POTA style. Bring your 2m radio and set it to a simplex frequency of 146.50; we can coordinate our activities if necessary. The location for potential set-up areas will be on the drive near and around Webb Lake as there are plenty of places to park and set up. Admission to the park costs $3 per person or $6 per carload. You will see the pay station on your right as you pull into the park entrance. Better yet, check on the Florida WMA website and purchase a pass-it is a bargain and gets you into all of the WMA areas most of which are POTA sites.

To get to Webb lake, take a right into the park after the pay station. The drive meanders around the lake. Around the lake, there are numerous turnouts and some picnic tables. There is no power in the park (unless you are camping) and you may or may not need to bring a table and chairs unless you have an operating position. I plan on being at the park at 9:00 am and setup and going at 9:30. I plan on bringing a radio capable of FT8, SSB, and CW. Remember, it only takes 10 contacts to count as an activation. Don’t have a radio or portable antenna? No problem, use a setup and generate 12 or so contacts and get an activation.
Bring your own food and water and let’s spend a fun morning doing a POTA activation. We will shut things down around lunch time-interest depending of course! As an added bonus, this is a XYL/family friendly event. The area is great for walking or bike riding or bring a fishing rod!
Hope to see you there!
