Join us for the upcoming ARRL Field Day Event hosted by the Charlotte Amateur Radio Society on June 22-23. This annual event sees over 35,000 hams throughout North America set up temporary transmitting stations in public places to showcase ham radio’s science, skill, and service to our communities and nation. Field Day combines public service, emergency preparedness, community outreach, and technical skills all in one event, making it the most popular event in ham radio since 1933.
When and Where?
This 24-hour event will start with setup at the beautiful Peace River Shores Community Center at 9:00 am on Saturday, June 22. Our first contacts begin at 2:00 pm. We will operate for 24 hours until we take down the equipment at 2:00 pm on Sunday.
What is Field Day?
ARRL Field Day is the single most popular on-the-air event held annually in the US and Canada. On the fourth weekend of June of each year, thousands of radio amateurs gather with their clubs, groups or simply with friends to operate from remote locations.
Field Day is a picnic, a campout, practice for emergencies, an informal contest and, most of all, FUN!
It is a time when many aspects of Amateur Radio come together to highlight our many roles. While some will treat it as a contest, other groups use the opportunity to practice their emergency response capabilities. It is an excellent opportunity to demonstrate Amateur Radio to the organizations that Amateur Radio might serve in an emergency, as
well as the general public
Who Are We?
The Charlotte Amateur Radio Society (CARS) is a non-profit organization that promotes amateur radio and provides opportunities for its members to improve their technical skills while serving the public. As an active member of the Charlotte County community for over 50 years, CARS is committed to contributing to the community.
