Vertical Dipole Workshop

A “Build and Test” Antenna Party

On Saturday, May 4th, NC4CC will host an antenna workshop where a 20-meter wire vertical dipole antenna will be built from scratch. It will be a simple dipole made of wire and a 1:1 balun and a feed line.

A NanoVNA will be used to tune the antenna and then tested with an Icom 7300. If time permits, we will add a 15M or a 10M segment to make it a “fan” dipole. This antenna will be tested as a  vertical, a sloper, and possibly a horizontal dipole to see what changes in SWR and impedance occur. I have rigged a “yardarm” at 40 feet on my tower with a pulley and rope to elevate the antenna after construction.
