WX4E Club Call Sign Use Policy and Agreement

The Federal Communications Commission grants amateur radio club station licenses to allow members of an amateur radio club to operate a station under a club call sign. The trustee of the club is the license grantee. It conveys no operating privileges. When operating the Charlotte Amateur Radio Society (CARS) club stations (either physical or virtual), operators will use the club call sign or when operating during club sponsored activities, unless granted an exemption by the trustee.

It is the duty of the trustee to act in the best interests of the club; after all, the station license belongs to the club, not to the trustee individually. The club station license trustee must designate control operators to ensure that the station is operated as the club wants it to be. The club license trustee will designate a
club station control operator who must be a club member in good standing and who will follow all FCC rules at all times.

Members in good standing wishing to utilize a club call sign may request permission to use a club call sign by contacting the trustee directly and providing the following information:

● Name of the CARS club member requesting the use of a club call sign (club station control operator)
● Call Sign and License class of the club station control operator.
● Time period (dates and times) that the club call sign will be used
● Description of the event where the club call sign will be used

Upon approval by the club station trustee, the club call sign can be used for the specified purpose and time period. It is the responsibility of the club station control operator (the person requesting the use of the call sign) to ensure that all on-air activities are in accordance with all applicable FCC rules and regulations.

Additionally, the club station control operator (the person requesting the use of the call sign) agrees to comply with any rules and log submission requirements of the event they are participating in while using the club call sign.

The club station control operator is REQUIRED to submit their log in an ADIF format for entry into the club's logging program.

The club station control operator is an ambassador for the Charlotte Amateur Radio Society and must present the club in the best possible manner. Any conduct that jeopardizes the standing or reputation of the club may result in the termination of club membership and immediate reporting to the Federal Communications Commission.
